Eric Backman will take over as Mayor Pro Tem for the Town of Diamondville, following the resignation announcement made Monday of current Mayor Clint Bowen.

“In 2023, when the current Town Council of Diamondville took office, the council elected Eric Backman to serve as Mayor Pro Tem,” Diamondville Clerk/Treasurer Cortney Bartshchi explained to SVI News. “In accordance with Town of Diamondville Ordinance, Mayor Pro Tem Backman will assume the duties of Mayor until the Town Council meeting on November 3rd.”

Bartschi said at that meeting, the Council will nominate and vote on a current member of the governing body to fill the position of Mayor, as required by Wyoming Statute.

“Following that appointment, the Town will publish a notice inviting applications to fill the resulting vacant council seat. All applications will be reviewed, and the governing body will vote to appoint the most qualified candidate,” said Bartschi.

Mayor Bowen sited personal reasons for his resignation, which will go into effect at the end of the month.
