Backman officially appointed as Mayor of Diamondville – Applications being accepted for open council seat

Eric Backman was officially appointed as the newest mayor for the Town of Diamondville during the regular Town Council meeting on Monday, November 3. Backman, who had been serving as a member of the Diamondville Town Council, has been the Mayor Pro Tem following the resignation of former Mayor Clint Bowen.

Mayor Backman will fill the remainder of Bowen’s term.

The appointment of Backman results in an open seat on the Diamondville Town Council. The town is now accepting applications to fill the vacancy. Interested persons must be residents and registered votes of the Town of Diamondville and meet all qualifications required by law to hold municipal office. Applications may be obtained from the Diamondville Town Hall, located at 20 U.S. Highway 30/189 in Diamondville during regular business hours.

The individual appointed to fill the vacancy will fill Backman’s unexpired term ending in December 31, 2026. If the appointed member wishes to retain their seat past that time, he/she will need to run for election during the 2026 election.
