The Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) responded to a semi-truck accident on Highway 30 near Kemmerer on Saturday, December 6. The accident occurred at approximately 8 a.m.

The driver was traveling eastbound toward the interstate at mile post 59.8 according to the WHP. Conditions were reported as windy with light snow with icy roads and some slushy areas. The driver of the truck was attempting to negotiate a left turn when the tractor broke traction and he was unable to regain control. The truck and trailer crossed both lanes of travel and tipped over, coming to rest in the westbound lane.

No injuries were reported and light traffic was not impacted. No hazardous materials were part of the trailer’s load.

The driver was cited for speed too fast for conditions.

Sgt. Brad White with the WHP had advice for motorists at the beginning of the winter driving season.

“When the road is icy, especially when negotiating a curve, don’t underestimate how slick the road can be,” he said. “And when it comes to driving according to conditions, people tend to think about how they riding on the road but they should also consider the potential need to make an evasive move if necessary.”
