Distance strength and a dominant showing in the throws powered standout performances for Kemmerer and Cokeville athletes at the Morgan Invitational, highlighted by a double-medal effort from Mia Dayton and a victory in the discus by Hadlee Wood.

Dayton delivered one of the meet’s top performances, winning the girls 400 meters in 59.60 seconds and adding a runner-up finish in the 800 meters at 2 minutes, 25 seconds. Her 400 victory stood as Kemmerer’s lone individual track title on the day and helped anchor the team’s push to a sixth-place finish overall.

Wood provided the field highlight for Kemmerer, capturing first place in the discus with a throw of 113 feet, 5 inches. She also added points in the shot put, placing fifth at 31-11, giving Kemmerer valuable scoring across both throwing events.

Kemmerer’s relay teams also contributed key finishes. The 4×200-meter relay team of Wood, Lozier, Lockwood and Boylen placed third in 2:02, while the 4×400 squad finished fifth. The team also took fourth in the medley relay.

Individually, Claire Crosland added a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters (26.93), while Peyton Scherr placed fourth in the 1,600 meters (5:50). Riley Meyer contributed with a sixth-place effort in the 300 hurdles.

Cokeville’s top girls relay performance came in the 4×400, where the team of Murdock, Pope, Dietz and Bird placed sixth.

North Summit won the girls team title with 112 points, followed by Morgan (92) and Tooele (87). Kemmerer finished sixth with 47 points, while Cokeville placed 10th with 24.

On the boys side, Kemmerer’s relays led the way. The 4×200 team of Miller, Crosland, Thatcher and Raechel placed second in 1:42, marking the highest finish for either program on the boys side. The 4×800 relay added a third-place finish in 10:26.

Joey Thomas turned in a strong distance performance, finishing fourth in the 800 meters (2:03), while Brent Erickson placed fourth in the 3,200 meters (10:37) and eighth in the 1,600. Nephi Cook added a fourth-place finish in the 300 hurdles.
