Rangers place 4th; Lady Rangers 9th at State Track Championships

The final athletic competition of the school year is in the books for Kemmerer High School as the girls and boys track programs competed in Casper over the weekend. It was a terrific outing for the squads with plenty of standout performances.

The Lady Rangers finished 9th in the 2A team standings with 37 total points. The Big Horn girls won the 2A championship with 150 team points followed by Wright with 103 and Sundance with 91.

The top overall finisher for the Lady Rangers on the weekend was Riley Meyer’s second-place finish in the pole vault. Meyer added a fourth place finish in the 300 hurdles on the final day of action.

The Rangers placed fourth overall in the 2A boys standings with 55 points. It was a title sweep for Big Horn High School as the Rams ran away with the boys title with 186 points. Thermopolis was runner-up with 130 points and Wright was third with 71.

It was a terrific weekend for Brent Erickson who added another third place finish in the 1600 meter on Saturday. He placed third in both distance events and helped the team score with points in two relays as well. Colter Krell also enjoyed a nice day to close out his high school career as he placed in both hurdling events as well as the discus.
