Wyoming’s largest free music festival will fill the streets of downtown Kemmerer this weekend as the 32nd Annual Oyster Ridge Music Festival will entertain both locals and visitors alike. The event begins on Friday afternoon at Triangle Park and continues through Saturday evening. 

Jake Lozier spoke with SVI recently about the success of the festival which brings its own energy to Lincoln County. 

“It creates a fun environment and we fill [the Triangle] up,” he said. “It’s neat to be down in the Triangle for the festival.”

Lozier noted that the music begins at 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

“The Kessinger Brothers will get us started,” he said. “They’ve done that for many years. We also have Liam and Layne [Jordan] on the lineup and we’ve gotten to watch them develop. Friday night our closers are Sicard Hollow.”

The music begins again at 11 a.m. on Saturday with a variety of music and a closing at from The Bones of J.R. Jones. Muir commented on the many different groups that will be in attendance. 

“It has a reputation of a bluegrass festival,” he said. A lot of Americana type bands but there’s something for everyone.” 

In addition to the entertainment, there is an wide variety of merchandise and food choices for the weekend. 

“We try and have all three sides of the Triangle full of vendors to help supplement the brick and mortar businesses there on the street,” Muir said. There will be up to seven food vendors and Pine Avenue will be all merchandise vendors. You can come and shop and listen and find something unique.”

Muir also praised the ongoing success of the festival due to those who make it run. 

“One thing that makes us successful is the sponsorships and donations that we get from local industries and partners,” he noted. “Without that this wouldn’t be possible and to keep it free. People can come and do some camping and get rides back and forth to the park.  For no out of pocket costs you can come see two full days of music. Thank you to the community and our sponsors, the committee members who work all year around who put on a great show.”
