The Fossil Basin Chamber of Commerce will bring casino-style table games, raffle prizes and a silent auction to the South Lincoln Training and Events Center on Saturday, September 19, for its annual fundraising gala.

Chamber President Jesica Lozier said the 5:30-9:30 p.m. event will use a casino theme this year, with participants receiving chips to play table games. At the end of the evening, winnings can be exchanged for raffle-ticket entries.

“We try to have a different theme for the gala every year,” Lozier said. “And this year’s theme is casino.”

Raffle prizes are expected to include Lagoon tickets, Lava Hot Springs tickets and a spa package, a whole pig in a freezer and a Blackstone package with cooking tools and spices. A trip to Cancun is among the silent-auction offerings.

“We’re really excited,” Lozier said. “It’s going to be a really fun night.”

Tickets cost $100 and include food, casino chips and admission. A cash bar with beer will be available, along with a wine auction. Lozier said organizers intentionally broadened the types of prizes offered this year.

“We’ve tried to go away from doing as many guns this year and have some other prizes,” she said. “That was the feedback we’ve received.”

The gala is a key fundraiser for the chamber, which operates the Visitor Center downtown and supports improvements around Kemmerer’s triangle and business district. Lozier said Lincoln County Travel and Tourism provided $5,000 this year to help staff the Visitor Center, but the chamber otherwise funds the facility.

“The nice thing about it is all the money goes to support the Chamber of Commerce,” Lozier said.

Gala proceeds have helped support downtown upgrades including picnic tables, landscaping, hanging baskets, seasonal decorations, new signage and seating. More lighting and fire-pit seating are planned.

“It’s because of the support people support at the gala that really makes downtown look nicer,” Lozier said.

Tickets are available through FossilBasinChamberCommerce.com, at the Visitor Center, through chamber members or by contacting the chamber on Facebook.
