The Sid Chaulk era got off to a great start as the Kemmerer Rangers rolled over the Moorcroft Wolves 45-12 in a neutral site game in Shoshoni to open up the 2026 campaign. It was the first time KHS topped 45 points in a game since the season opener in September of 2011 when they defeated Wind River 47-7.

The Wolves had no answer for the Rangers running game as Noah Parks finished the game with five rushing touchdowns. Sam Thatcher added a pair of scores on the ground as well.

Leading 27-6 at the half, the Rangers effectively slammed the door on the game in the early minutes of the third quarter as Parks rumbled 47 yards on fourth and short near mid-field to put  Kemmerer up 33-6. Parks threw his hat into the ring for player of the week in Wyoming high school football as he also recorded an inception and a fumble recovery on defense. 

The Rangers will try and keep the momentum rolling next week as they travel to Hot Springs County to face the #4 Thermopolis Bobcats on September 11 to open up 2A West Conference play before kicking off their home opener against the Lyman Eagles on September 18.

Pinedale escaped with a 15-14 win over Glenrock as the Wranglers stopped a two-point conversion for the win. Thermopolis had no trouble in a 47-13 win over Tongue River. 

Lyman rolled past Soda Springs (ID) 29-14 while the #2 Mountain View Buffaloes survived the Rich County (UT) Rebels 14-13 on blocked PAT attempt late in the game. 

#5 Lovell defeated Burns 22-15 in a Thursday night contest. The Cokeville Panthers are on the Road at West Jefferson (ID) on Saturday night.
