The Rangers experienced a rough night of growing pains in the tough 2A West as turnovers and penalties helped derail their home opener in a 34-16 loss to visiting Lyman.

It was a bounce back game for the Eagles who were coming off a 27-6 drubbing at the hands of the Cokeville Panthers. Lyman got three total touchdowns from Gage Bradshaw as well as some stellar work from their special teams. Gage France and Gavin Johnson each had kickoff returns for scores to aid in the Eagle victory.

For the Rangers, a total of six turnovers proved too steep of a hill to climb over as they failed to score four times inside Lyman territory. Kemmerer did find the end zone twice as Sam Thatcher ran one in and also connected with Heston McMillan on a fourth-quarter pass.

The loss dropped the Rangers to (1-2) overall and (0-2) in the conference. The Eagles improved to (2-1) overall and (1-1) in league play.

The Rangers will try and bounce back themselves as they travel to #2 Mountain View on September 25. The Buffalos defeated the Natrona JV 27-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The #5 Cokeville Panthers, leading 14-7 gave up a touchdown with just three seconds remaining to the third-ranked Thermopolis Bobcats but then stuffed the two-point conversion to claim the 14-13 victory on Friday afternoon. In the 2A West, Pinedale routed Lovell 42-14 as they improved to 4-0 on the season. 

As mentioned above, Mountain View shut out the Natrona Mustangs junior varsity, 27-0. 

In other 2A scores, #1 Big Horn clobbered Glenrock 55-0 while Burns pulled the upset over #4 Torrington in a high-scoring 47-33 final.
