A juvenile died and two adults were rushed to hospitals after a vehicle fire Friday evening on US Highway 20 north of Ashton.
Idaho State Police say a 26-year-old man from Thayne, Wyoming, was towing a 2000 KO Manufacturing 6X20LS livestock trailer with a 2003 Chevy 2500. Inside the Chevy with the man was a 23-year-old woman from Rexburg and a juvenile.
Around 5:25 p.m., ISP says the Chevy overheated at the top of Ashton Hill and caught fire.
Emergency crews responded to the fire, where the juvenile died at the scene. The truck driver was airlifted to the hospital and the passenger was taken by ambulance.
Both lanes of the highway were closed for approximately three hours.
ISP was assisted by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, North Fremont Fire Department, Intermountain Air Ambulance, St. Anthony Ambulance and Ashton Ambulance.
