Heading into the Mountain West Cross Country Championships on Friday, Wyoming was selected second in the women’s, with one first-place vote, and third in the men’s Pre-Championship Coaches’ Poll, the conference office announced Wednesday.

The Cowgirls are looking for their highest finish ever, and their first second-place finish at a conference championship since 1990, at the Mountain West Championships after being selected No. 2 in the poll. This is one spot higher than the Preseason Poll released in August. The team is led by senior Eowyn Dalbec, who has been the top finisher for Wyoming at each meet this season.

For the Cowboys, they match where they were picked in the preseason and are looking for a strong finish to the year with a young group. Only one returning, senior Aidan Ramsey, has scoring experience in the MW Championship.
