A fire ban remains in effect in Lincoln County, at least for the time being. Removing the restrictions is one of the agenda items for a special meeting scheduled for the Lincoln County Commissioners at 1:00 p.m. this Monday, September 29.

Commissioners enacted the fire restrictions on August 19 at the request of the Lincoln County Fire Marshal due to extremely dry conditions. Fall weather has since brought rain and cooler temperatures, prompting the expected end of the restrictions on  Monday.

Until the fire ban is removed, the stage one restrictions include any open fire or discharge of any class of fireworks on all state and private land within the county. There are some exceptions, including campfires within a stone or metal fire with a minimum 15 feet cleared radius, trash burned in a container between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m., and charcoal fires within enclosed grills.

Similar stage one restrictions were also in place inside the Bridger-Teton National Forest until the forest service removed those restrictions on September 17.
