The 2A West Regional Wrestling Tournament was held over the weekend and the Kemmerer Rangers captured the championship with 181 team points. Another Lincoln County school, the Cokeville Panthers, were second with 164.5 points while Thermopolis rounded out the top of the podium. 

Abel Jiminiz won the 132-pound bracket as regional champion with a pair of pins and a tech fall on his way to first place. Eli Jernigan (113), Wyatt Miller (126), Heston McMillan (157) and Jace Barton (285) all advanced to the finals and placed second. Despite having just one champion, the Rangers piled up the points with 17 placers spread across all weight classes but  144. 

Cokeville claimed four regional champions with Cade Thompson (113), Daxton Pope (150) Clay Teichert (175) and Kashton Walker (190) winning their brackets. 

The Rangers will head into this weekend’s State tournament as a contender for the top of the podium. Moorcroft handled the 2A East with 205 team points, far in front of second place Tongue River’s 160. Sundance was a distant third with 100 points. 

The Rangers have been mainstays at the top of the 2A classification for the past several seasons, placing first or second for the past five years. Kemmerer was state runner-up to Moorcroft in 2024 and 2025 after winning the 2A team title in 2022 and 2023. They were also runner-up in 2021.
