A Facebook auction and GoFundMe has been created to support the family of Raydon Bowen of Kemmerer following a diagnosis of a rare genetic disorder.

“Raydon, who just turned 7, is full of energy, adventure, and a love for life,” reads a statement provided by the family on both the Facebook and GoFundMe pages. “He’s all boy-he loves riding his bike, cruising in side-by-sides, and showing off every chance he gets. His smile and fearless spirit light up everyone around him.”

Raydon was recently diagnosed with Childhood Cerebral Adrenoleukodystrophy, or ALD, a rare genetic disorder that affects the brain and nervous system, impacting his speech and basic function.

“Without treatment, this condition can progress quickly and become life-threatening,” reads the family’s statement. “Based on his most recent MRI it was decided that he was a candidate for a bone marrow transplant. After aggressive chemotherapy, the transplant can stop the ALD from causing more damage.”

All proceeds from the fundraisers will go towards Raydon’s medical care, treatments, travel expenses and helping ease the burden on his family. Treatment will take place at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City with a world-renowned expert on ALD.

To support, direct donations can be made through Venmo or GoFundMe. Venmo donations can be sent to @Bailey-Bowen-2, with 8983 being the last four digits of the phone number. The GoFundMe can be found by visiting GoFundMe.com and searching for “Help Support Raydon’s Fight Against Adrenoleukodystrophy” or by clicking here. As of 9:30 a.m. on April 16, a total of $10,430 had been donated through GoFundMe, with a goal of $13,000.

The Facebook Auction will end on April 24. Members of the auction can donate various items, business services and other products. Group members then bid in the comment section under each item. Highest bidder at the end of the auction wins. The group can be found by searching for “Auction For Raydon” on Facebook or by clicking here.
