Kemmerer new home construction moving forward

A 78-home subdivision on Canyon Road is coming together for Kemmerer in the fall of 2026.

The Gateway Village PUD is in the process of getting water, sewer, gas, electric, and other infrastructure constructed and has made significant progress, according to Brian Muir, Kemmerer City Administrator.

“They are hoping to put in a road and housing pads and install up to four twin homes (or 8 homes) by mid-November and have them fully completed by March.”

The homes are manufactured by Fading West in Colorado with plans for shipment to Kemmerer where they will be installed on foundations with cranes.

Muir continued,, “They are hoping to add more homes after that, as they have been approved for up to 78 homes in that subdivision.”

The developer is Gateway Construction of Cheyenne.

“They are marketing these homes to people already living in Kemmerer, as well as to both the permanent employees of TerraPower and the construction workforce coming here,” explained Muir. “This will help prepare the City of Kemmerer for the 250 workers of TerraPower Kemmerer Unit #1 Natrium(tm) nuclear plant and the up to 1600 construction workers who will build it.”

The development is proposed as a site for local home ownership. “The City of Kemmerer hopes that these workers will live in Kemmerer, utilize our services and community assets, and support our businesses.”

Muir concluded, “TerraPower has expressed their desire to have the workforce building the plant to be as close to the plant as possible in our community.”
