There’s only one day left of competition as teams closed out their schedule of events on Day 2 of the Wyoming Track and Field Championships in Casper. The Cokeville girls were third in the team standings after Friday’s action with a total of 39 points. Southeast led the way with 64 followed by Saratoga’s 45. The Lady Panthers should receive a huge influx of points from Addison Barnes who is a favorite or one of the favorites in the 200, 400, 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Those events will not be scored until Saturday.
Rachel Thomas earned All-State with a second place finish in the Long Jump and a distance of 16’ 4”. Mia Dayton (2:26.26) and Geneva Murdock (2:28.65) placed third and fourth respectively in the 800 meter run. The ladies also scored signifiant points in the relays on Friday with a pair of third place finishes. Rachel Thomas, Whitli Groll, Bailey Bird and Presli Pope made up the 4×100 squad and the 4×800 unit was Bailey Bird, Geneva Murdock, Paislee Tims and Sarah Dietz.
The Panthers were sixth after the second with with 23 team points. Burlington has a large lead heading into the final day with 73 points followed by Saratoga’s 45. Joey Thomas earned All-State in the 800 meter with a second place time of 2:01.98. Bodee Vierig placed fifth in the high jump with a mark of 5’ 9” and then combined with Killian Teichert, Cooper Bird and Nathan Awtrey to place eighth in the 4×100 relay.
